It's always fantastic to see your work in action, whether it be on client's walls, websites or LinkedIn profiles. And it's so gratifying to collaborate and create with and for clients to produce dynamic, compelling images to engage their audience or illuminate their story.
Recently, I had the opportunity to create website images for Michelle Desmond who is an equine specialist--An equine specialist is someone that assists Mental Health practitioners by including horses and creating a dynamic, nurturing and healing experience. Because I am a horse lover myself, I couldn't wait to create the images. The project would bring multiple skill elements together--creating gorgeous art portrait images of Michelle riding (she rides bareback and bitless) for the header images on her pages as well as head shots of her staff (horses!) I couldn't wait to get started.
To create images that will work for websites, it's important that I know what the website template actually looks like and the "boxes" that the images will go in. Sometimes, clients are working with web designers who can communicate site requirements, but in this case, Michelle was building her site mostly on her own. To that end, Michelle and I met and went over the site requirements together before the shoot and created a shot list of the images we needed to produce on the day of the shoot, the timeline and what would be needed to create those images.
For this particular shoot, I was cognizant that all lighting would most probably be available light as some animals can be spooked by the flash of speed lights, large equipment setups or even reflectors blowing in the wind. I did come prepared to create my own light, but knew that most likely I wouldn't be using any of the gear. (I try to live by my husband's rule of "Better to have and not need than need and not have.")
I'm so excited to see Michelle's site go live--check it out here!

Featuring: Website images for Plant Depot
Over the course of the last several weeks, I've been creating new images for Plant Depot's website. It's a big project that spans the entire site to create a photographic snapshot of the Nursery for the web viewer.
Projects like this are much easier when they are broken down into smaller shoots within the larger project. Additionally, creating a shoot plan and even setting up and styling in advance provides relatively stress free shoot and post production days.
Perhaps the only stress was trying to get the nursery cat Disney to walk through at the right time. Tricks like this work much better when cats are hungry. I'm not going to call myself a cat whisperer just yet.
It does make me feel like getting out in the garden, even if it's just to put out some holiday greens!
Keep an eye on Plant Depot's site--new images coming!

Featuring: A Theory in Motion website images
Tamara Wiper's pilates studio, A Theory in Motion has a new website!
As a long time friend, I was honored that Tamara entrusted me with task of creating new images for her site. Although Tamara had specific ideas about how she wanted her site to eventually look and was working with Katie Wagner Social Media for the site design itself (as well as her new logo), she gave me the freedom to create the images I felt would best represent her ideas. We had images from a previous shoot that she still loved and wanted to use for her site, so during multiple consultations, we came up with the direction and feel that the new images should have, with consideration taken to the images we already had. I'm so proud of Tamara and her new site!

Featuring: A Theory in Motion Pilates Studio
Several years ago, I shot for Tamara Wiper, owner of A Theory in Motion Pilates Studio. It was a completely creative shoot and we ended up with some great images that are now hanging as metal prints in the studio's reception area. I really enjoy seeing my images in the spaces for which they are created.
This time our shoot was geared toward updating her website, so I returned to her studio to create more images. We planned well in advance, creating a shot list to identify specific images as our goal. We had limited timeframe to shoot within and we wanted to make sure we were able to achieve all that we needed to within the allotted time.
I'm completely inspired by Tamara's knowledge and fitness level. I do know first hand that she's an amazing Pilates teacher--I trained with her before I was pregnant with Taylor and never felt more strong and flexible. I wanted to create images for her that truly portrayed her commitment to her clients and her art. While we shot specifically towards creating images for her site, I was inspired to play a little with a few artistic versions.
