Over the weekend, we celebrated Mother's day on a little mini vacation, and decided to postpone our new annual tradition of a Mother's Day portrait until we were all back at home.
In the meantime, I came across some old negatives (yes, as in film!) of a portrait session I did with my mom in 1990. I was working for another photographer at the time and shot this in the studio. Back then, glamour photography was popularized by a company called Glamour Shots. You know, the feather boa and all. I had women who requested that, but mom's portraits were different. They reflected my style of shooting as well as my mom's style and personality. I look at them now and think that as much as my style has evolved and changed, it's stayed the same. Knowing my mom intimately, I see how much these portraits reflect how much she has evolved and changed and yet stayed the same. I LOVE these portraits and can't wait to have them printed properly. Until then, I scanned this one and digitized it. Not properly, but it conveys the feeling of this gorgeous woman that I am lucky to call my mom.
